JCIA submits an opinion to NHK on their TV program on endocrine disruptors

On July 6, the Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA) submitted their opinion to NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) regarding the TV program "Tameshite Gatten" (which means 'Experience and Understand' in Japanese) which covered the subject of endocrine disruptors, aired on June 28. JCIA pointed out that the program was biased, revealing only part of the scientific findings on the subject, and did not refer to national risk evaluations and such.

This opinion letter also comprised opinions from Japan Soap and Detergent Association, the Japan Plastics Industry Federation and VEC, as well as other chemical related associations. As for PVC application related associations, Japan Vinyl Goods Manufacturers Association and Japan Plasticizer Industry Association also cooperated, since phthalates used in flexible PVC products served as examples of endocrine disruptors within the program.
