Eco-Point Program for Housing to Restart

Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) announced on 21, October, 2011 that an eco-point program for housing starts again. The project was over July 31 this year, but the renewed program aims at putting priority on supporting the areas stricken by the Great East Japan Earthquake and the environment preservation.

This program is unique in that more than half of points are allocated for the support of affected areas. For example, building a new house in a disaster-stricken area will qualify for 300,000 eco points, and those building new houses in non-disaster-stricken areas will be given 150,000 eco points.
